The Tulasi Stotram is addressed to the sacred Basil leaf also known as Tulasi (ocimum sanctum). The basil plant (Tulasi or Thulasi) is considered to be an incarnation of the consort of Lord Vishnu.

 

It is believed that if basil leaves are offered to Lord Vishnu, he would bless the offerer with whatever he/she wants.
